Why We Need to Save the Bees

Changing Seasons

Fall is approaching quickly, with the first official Autumn day only weeks away. The leaves will begin to change and the temperature will cool. Instead of spending time outside, it may be more comfortable reading a book inside while sipping on a cup of hot tea.

During this time, it is easy to feel summer is leaving just as quickly as it came. September already rolled in, but there are still enough summer days left to do enjoy our favorite summer activities.

Here at Anna’s Honey, we enjoy the summertime the most. We enjoy eating our favorite summer recipes, the warm air, and making honey with delicious flavor.

What Makes Honey Bees So Special?

Summertime isn’t only great for people though. Summer is the time bees are most likely to pollinate flowers and produce their sweet honey. Honey can be saved for the rest of the year, but as it turns out, bees give us much more than honey.

Our friends at the National Honey Board calculated over a quarter of all foods eaten in the United States comes from plants pollinated by honey bees. The bees play a huge part in the natural ecosystem as well as the foods that people enjoy as well. In one way or another, almost every person in America is affected by bees in some way.

Unfortunately, over the past several years, the National Honey Board found that the number of honey bees has been falling. The board points to pesticides, pests, and diseases as some of the reasons for this decline. As people who love bees and the honey they create, we try to do all that we can to support the health and well-being of these bees.

Anna's Honey Can Help

At Anna’s Honey, our honey is never pasteurized. This makes the honey itself 100% pure and natural while also keeping the bees healthy. We have made it a commitment not only to do what is best for our black and yellow friends but also what is best for our supporters by taking extra measures to safely produce the highest quality honey possible.

Whether honey is creamed, given as a gift, or kept in a bear-shaped bottle, Anna’s Honey has been made locally sourced honey for more than thirty years. No matter what the season is, we will continue to honor our commitment so you can keep enjoying deliciously sweet honey.
